Illuminating Steps LLC has provided services for individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Developmental Disabilities. These services are focused on addressing deficits in social skills, communication skills, daily living skills, and challenging behaviors in the Nassau and Suffolk County areas. We utilize the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
ABA, involves an umbrella of teaching methods: Incidental Teaching, Discrete Trial Training, Natural Environment Teaching, and Verbal Behavior.

Assessements
An evaluation of the individual's challenging behaviors is conducted via a Functional Behavior Assessment and Functional Behavior Analysis to determine the functions of those behaviors, a pre-requisite to the development of a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that will be used to develop a program to teach and replace with appropriate behaviors.
